Dear Friend:

I hope you’re doing well. Finally, this is happening-the N.Y. tour that we have been waiting for!

I’m writing to tell you about a really interesting opportunity coming up in March. We’ll be spending Shabbat with the Jewish community in Crown Heights, New York— and it’s an unforgettable experience that I don't want you to miss.

There’s nothing quite like it. Imagine that the shtetl of Europe has been frozen in time, transported to New York, and then unfrozen. I love walking down the main street and seeing the Judaica stores, hearing the sounds of the yeshiva students, and smelling the kosher restaurants. There are signs in Hebrew and Yiddish in the streets, and shuls at every corner. Meanwhile, the skyscrapers of Manhattan rise in the distance.

You probably know that Crown Heights is the heart of the Chabad Lubavitch movement and home to thousands of its followers. It’s become famous as one of the most warm and welcoming communities in the Jewish world. The locals open their houses to visitors from across the globe, urging them to step inside and feel at home. Spending a Shabbat weekend in Crown Heights has become a must-do experience that creates lifetime memories.

We have an exciting schedule in place. We’ll take a guided tour of the neighborhood, visit a matzah bakery and a scribe’s workshop, and take in comedy shows and other entertainment. Over Shabbat, we’ll pray together, learn together, and share a Shabbat meal with local families and friends. We’ll also visit the iconic 770 building and the Ohel, the resting place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

The Shabbat weekend is March 13-15 and is open to both men and women, singles or married.

The cost for the program is $150 per person and includes all Shabbat meals and accommodations at a home in Crown Heights. I hope you’ll be able to join us.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs. Rochelle Kaplan
